Greetings,
Thank you for your interest in First Unitarian Church of Des Moines, a member church of the Unitarian Universalist Association. Our membership is a vibrant group of religious seekers who have found here a home for their questions and a common ground where the deepest values of life can be shared.
With a noble heritage of taking stands for the civil rights of our fellow citizens and nurturing an environment of free religious inquiry, our congregation offers ever-increasing opportunities for life enrichment, spiritual growth, and social justice and we welcome your participation. We are especially proud of our religious education program for children and youth and trust that you will find here a place where the religious journeys of all ages are respected and honored.
I encourage you to join us for a Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning service, a time when we gather in reverence for the mystery and continuous revelation of our shared existence. Our services aim to spark the mind, lighten the spirit and touch the heart and are framed by the ever-present questions "What does it mean to be human?"; "What are we called to do in our one, precious life?"; and "How do we leave the world better than we have found it?"
I speak on behalf of the 500-plus members and friends of our church community when I say that we welcome the opportunity to get to know you and to introduce you to the never-ending dialogue that is our faith.
Hope to see you in church!
Warm regards,
Rev. Mark Stringer
