A Message from the First Unitarian Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee, which is composed of two members from the Board of Trustees and three members from the congregation, has the responsibility to present a slate of candidates for three openings on the Board of Trustees and one candidate for the Endowment Disbursement Committee to be elected at our annual meeting in June.

In the spirit of the Fifth Unitarian Universalist Principle, which is the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large, we are initiating a new process for nominations. We invite people to either apply oneself or to encourage another member to apply. The Nominating Committee wants to be very clear that we know everyone in our congregation has gifts and skills to offer. We also hope that we will have more applicants than we have positions to fill. One of the tasks of the Nominating Committee will be to identify current skill sets that the Board of Trustees and the Endowment Disbursement Committee need to function effectively and then select candidates to best fill those needs.

You are welcome to place completed applications in the Nominating Committee mail slot in the office, or e-mail them to Linda Lemons at lemonslin@gmail.com or Denny Schrock at dennyschrock@msn.com. We will be taking applications until March 4, 2012. Please talk with any member of the Board of Trustees, Endowment Disbursement Committee, or Nominating Committee for further information.
